About Bill Gates
William
R. Gates (Bill or Gator) is a self-taught photographer. He started
photography
when he
purchased
his first SLR film camera, a Minolta X700, in 1983. Since then his
photography has won
numerous awards and contests, has been published in several media, and
has been or is sold in a number of locations

![]() Bill has recently
displayed
his photography
in the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center Over the years he
has been a member of four photo clubs. He served as Treasurer of the
Huntsville Photographic Society (HPS) in 2004 and 2005. Bill is
currently a member of the HPS and Art League of Madison. An artist's
statement basically explains why one takes the types of photos he
